Swinside Stone Circle

A beautiful large stone circle that is overlooked and not so well known but it is stunning. Believed to be around 4,000 years old, set up on a hill behind Black Combe Fell.  There is a tale that talks of the devil moving the stones into a stone circle each night while they were been used to build a church.

There are 55 stones in the circle.

• The track up to the circle is a private farm lonning. Parking is tricky, you can park at the Black Combe car park and walk on the footpath to the circles, the walk is around 0.9 miles.
